I'm Anna
I write, I make theatre and I teach.
My first novel, Here Comes the Miracle, published in 2021 by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, was nominated in 2022 for the Sunday Times Charlotte Aitkin Trust Young Writer of the Year Award. My second book, a memoir in essays titled, We All Come Home Alive, will be released in January 2025.
I've made theatre for adults and children, working both as a playwright and deviser. My shows have been presented by (among others), Lincoln Center, Barbican, Southbank Centre, Young Vic Taking Part, Battersea Arts Centre and the Lowry.
I'm Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Virginia. I also teach courses and workshops in other settings and coach other writers to perform their work with confidence and presence.
